It has become commonplace, when friends get together, to see five or six phones placed in the center of the circle, and also for one or more members of the group to answer a call\u2014or make one\u2014in the middle of a conversation, or spend their time checking their messages and notifications.<\/p>\n

Your phone should therefore be in airplane mode and remain in your bag. You can of course take it out to take a photo, then put it back in your bag. If you need to make a call, you can step away from the group and make your call without disturbing others.<\/p>\n
